Alex was born in 1980 in Syria. His childhood dream was to be an artist. He fled to Greece at the end of 2004 after threats to his life. He has worked as an interpreter, and is now focussing on his artistic career.
The elements that make up the complex worlds of his works – the strange characters and crazy situations – are the expressions of his thoughts and feelings, arising from his imagination and memories. He transforms reality into fantasy and fantasy into reality, painting freely, randomly, madly, with passion; following where his hand leads him, not following rules: he has always refused to submit to the conventions and traditions that people follow fanatically. For him a work of art is more interesting when he is not directly in control of the process and the images emerge intuitively. Painting, he says, is in his blood.
